Food number Five

Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 12:00PM Hummus, Bananas, Yogurt, Avocado and Prunes. Prunes are the chocolate pudding of our world. Every night, and she will eat as much as we will give her. This is our food in plastic pots. I buy all the organic prunes on the shelf every time I am at the store. If Roosevelt Rd. is out of prunes it is my fault. If prunes came under glass (baby food jars) we would buy them that way, but here they apparently do not, and there is not always organic. We buy them anyway. A loves prunes. I have not held back in serving them every day with no observable effects, which is surprising.
Prunes in plastic pots are also portable, making our entire diet easy to travel. Hummus you can carry even though I only do sometimes, prunes are easier being factory sealed, bananas are both easy to find and easy to carry, and avocado we buy in restaurants under the guise of needing an appetizer. The bonus to guacamole is that it is served quickly, and we eat the chips. Yogurt I am usually buying for myself and can share.

Prunes "under glass" so to speak.

But oddly never available at our stores. Yes, I could have requested they be stocked by going to the grocery store customer service. Yes, I could have ordered them online. Did I mention working, baby, living, and only grocery shopping at 9:30 at night? Never ordered them. I just bought the immediately available ones in plastic from the corner store. Every single tub on the shelf. Every one.
